These important financial incentives have played a major part in the success of historic preservation efforts. The federal historic rehabilitation tax credits amount to 20 percent of the total rehabilitation costs of a project, and when combined with the 25 percent Virginia state tax credits (percentage varies in other states), many projects become much more financially feasible.
Since 1986, our office has completed a wide variety of tax credit projects and managed the three-step application process for interested property owners. All of our designs reflect The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, which must be met to take advantage of these incentives.
