Augusta County, Va

This historic brick farmhouse dates from the early 19th century and retains much of its original interior layout and architectural features. While several additions had been made over the years to enlarge the house, the spaces were not well-organized and did not meet the needs of family living. Frazier Associates designed a new addition and renovated existing spaces to improve overall function, flow, and organization in the house. Included in the rehabilitation were a new kitchen, and a new first floor master bedroom suite, as well as a new screened porch to provide access and connection to the pool. Materials, forms, and details of the addition reflected the existing historic vocabulary of the property. The missing front porch was also reconstructed based on existing physical evidence of the size and design of this important feature.
