Nellysford, Va
Compact size, energy-saving features, and traditional details were key priorities in the design of this new house. The use of the Tudor styling and details, combined with natural materials such as stone and wood, create a small-scale residence that harmonizes with its wooded, hilly site at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Interior detailing features built-in shelving, a half-columned casement between the living and dining rooms, and a custom staircase. An expansive patio tucked into the rear L-shape of the house provides a large outdoor living area accessible from multiple rooms in the house.
Frazier Associates worked with the owners to employ energy-efficiency techniques in the new home such as a geothermal heating system and the latest air-sealing and insulation technologies.
