The Virginia Department of Transportation retained Frazier Associates to design its Rockbridge Residency Office. The new building accommodates the company’s expanded needs for office and meeting spaces as part of a phased relocation of all of its facilities. The design utilizes traditional forms and materials compatible with the surrounding rural environment of Rockbridge County, Virginia. The scheme of a central building with wings accommodates the client’s program while responding to the sloping site and historic context of the area.
