Gloucester, Va
Gloucester is one of Virginia’s earliest historic Tidewater villages and contains a unique Courthouse Square complex along with a largely intact Main Street commercial corridor. Frazier Associates previously completed a revitalization plan for this area and the development of design guidelines was one of the plan’s recommendations.
It is part of a package of projects that the firm completed for the Gloucester Main Street Preservation Trust that also includes the creation of a facade grants program and facade designs for specific buildings. SketchUp was used to build several facade designs that were used to illustrate the guidelines. Sections included rehabilitation of facades, rears of buildings, signs and awnings.
