Tidewater Community College (TCC) is made up of four campuses: Norfolk, Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, and Portsmouth in Virginia’s tidewater region.  Frazier Associates was contracted to design a wayfinding master plan for all four campuses with the goal of creating a cohesive and consistent method of signage.  The firm completed an assessment and inventory of existing signs, examined VDOT directional signs, and worked with a Wayfinding Task Force from the College for input on the system.  The final master plan includes gateway, directional, pedestrian, parking, and building identification signs.  The design incorporates the distinctive College brand and logo.  Informational kiosks for the four campuses and the college’s off-campus centers were also designed.  Exterior signs as well as interior building signage which includes directional signs, room identification signs, and directory sign/maps have been installed at the Joint-Use Library.

Additionally, the firm was asked to design interpretive signs to help illustrate TCC’s storm water management plan.  The signs, to be installed at their Chesapeake and Portsmouth campuses, explain how the use of retention basins and bioswales help manage runoff, prevent flooding and erosion, and improve water quality.  The signs are currently under fabrication.
