Augusta, Ga
The seventy-block downtown historic district of Augusta, Georgia contains commercial, governmental, and institutional uses. Its rich architectural heritage spans several centuries. It has a revitalization program with strong community support.
Frazier Associates first developed a revitalization plan with an extensive public participation process and an advisory committee of forty stakeholders. The goals were to create a new vision for the area through visual assessment and land use workshops. In the second phase, the guidelines were developed throughout the entire downtown to include the traditional “Main Street.” This publication contains numerous illustrations, historic photographs and detailed recommendations for new construction, rehabilitation, site, and streetscape design.
