Clifton Forge & Covington, Va
The Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation recently sponsored revitalization plans for the Town of Clifton Forge and the City of Covington. The facades of commercial buildings in both downtown areas were assessed and recommendations made for enhancements as a part of the plan.
Among the recommendations made, were the establishment of an incentive program for property owners and creation of design guidelines to ensure that the improvements implemented are appropriate to the character of each building and each downtown. Sample facade improvement drawings were drafted for selected buildings, some including possible floor plans for residential use of the spaces above the storefront.
