Located in the northern Shenandoah Valley, the Town of Strasburg sits in a small basin formed by the North Fork of the Shenandoah River with views of mountain ridges in the nearby George Washington National Forest. The Town’s ideal proximity provides ample outdoor recreational opportunities, and combined with the Town’s rich cultural and historic resources and downtown business district, offers much to local residents and visitors from nearby northern Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Building on its downtown revitalization efforts, the Town commissioned Frazier Associates to design a wayfinding system to provide better awareness, connectivity, and access to facilities, attractions, and amenities within the Town. Because the Town’s roads are maintained by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), the system needed to comply with VDOT’ s Community Wayfinding Sign Manual. Working closely with Town officials and VDOT, a wayfinding plan was created that reflects community character and will direct people to explore the best of Strasburg.
