This new home is located on a dramatic hilltop site overlooking the Cowpasture River in Bath County. Simple vernacular forms from neighboring camp structures helped inform the design. Naturally finished wood siding along with stone add to the crisp façade with its tree trunk porch support. The three-story dwelling is set into the side of a hill in order to create a terrace off of the lower level and a screened porch off of the living room above to take advantage of river views.
The contemporary interior includes a dramatic two-story living room divided from the dining area by a stained concrete fireplace. A glass block wall separates the front entry from the living room and shields the open stair to the second level. The owner’s selection of fixtures, furnishings and art result in a unique and stunning interior.
